Chopan in Munich

Delicious food in a great atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit!

Overpriced for small portions of delivery forget drink. Food 18 euros, was still nice to the gentlemen and despite forgetting my drink and cutlery (although I called extra) he should please give me cutlery, no cutlery or drink is accepted. I gave him 22 euros, 4 euros tip. Then he had to make a phone call and I waited 5 minutes for him to open the door, something from cold the whole apartment turned cold. Of course, my food and maybe it didn't taste good because it got cold. Then he went down and rang again, he wanted delivery costs of 1.50 euros. Gave him that too. So eating a small portion which doesn't taste good, originally cost 18, I paid 23.50.

Fresh and well seasoned. Large and very good vegetarian selection. I would still love a few marked vegan options (probably some dishes are "secretly vegan" anyway). Takeaway worked smoothly in Corona times. Thank you ☺️

Yesterday food ordered directly from the website - very satisfied! The food was delicious and the service was nice. A vegetarian rice dish with almonds and orange was particularly good. There was an error message on the website, but I was called immediately and the delivery went super and quickly for a small surcharge. With pleasure again!

Order incomplete and partially incorrect. Portions for the price are very manageable. Watch out! Vegetarian dishes are delivered with meat and are also cold, with a delivery time of less than 5 minutes. When asked over the phone why the wrong order was delivered, the reaction was unreasonable and rowdy. The subsequent delivery of the vegetarian dish also arrived cold and clearly showed remains of meat.

Food and service just great! Four of us ordered two starters and four main courses to be picked up. At home we noticed that a main course was missing. A quick phone call and the food was delivered immediately. It might be annoying, but it can happen. The taste of the food was just great. Will definitely eat there again.

The food is delicious and this is a really good restaurant. Recommended is number 45 on the menu. Really delicious?

Incredibly delicious and freshly prepared food. The shop is unfortunately very narrow and there is little space but still very worthwhile :)

Very delicious fooooddd!! Chopan water was quite refreshing and their signature slow cooked chicken dish with lentils was flavorful. Portion was good enough for the price. Although the place is quite small, the ambience is nice. Worth visiting again :)

Unfortunately, I can only give 2 stars, we made a reservation (7 p.m.) and had to walk back and forth between the restaurants twice because no one was clear where we should sit. In compensation, we should get free starters. When we finally sat down and could enjoy the excellent food, we were asked (halfway through the main course) to come to the end, our table would be reserved again from 8.30 p.m. ? When the bill came, suddenly there was only one starter on the house ... No matter how good the food was, that's a no go! I would have liked to have known that beforehand ... what a shame!

The Chopan am Gasteig is a great Afghan restaurant. The service is very friendly and authentic, and the food is delicious. The decor is tasteful and there are also opportunities to sit outside. We had the whole program, from starter to dessert. Everything was really good and I would come back anytime. That being said, see you soon.

Try the Chopan water, you will never drink wine again ;p ! Very delicious food. Went there with colleagues. My favorite is the Chopan water, spinach and rice and the aubergine starters.

However, as with most Afghans, food is delicious and expensive. Service was unfortunately very poor and left a lot to be desired in terms of friendliness. Nicely decorated for you, good food, but I know competition that is better and offers better service. So unfortunately I'll go to that in the future. Anyone who can overlook the service and need an Afghan quickly is in good hands here.

My friend and I have been ordering regularly from Chopan for months. The food is so incredibly delicious and a real treat! We love it! The delivery service is punctual like a Swiss clockwork. The food always arrived freshly prepared.

Food was good, waiting time for food was also completely okay (about 25 minutes). However, the service left a lot to be desired. Hardly any inquiries for more drinks, the first of the 4 drinks came every 10 minutes, although there was nothing complicated. At the end still slightly contemptuous looks, why the first split bill was thrown together after 10 minutes nobody wanted our money. It's a shame because the food was really good!

Awesome food. Although I like Kabul Resturant more for some of the things, some things here like the grilled lamb qabali pulao is amazing!

My family and friends are often visitors to this wonderful restaurant, which is unique for its authentic atmosphere or Asian culture and delicious dishes. Sorry, they don't have photos to upload, but if you want to try the years old food and enjoy it in the right Afghan atmosphere, look no further.

The food was just amazing! Service and ambience just perfect! I often eat in Munich, and I can only say one thing ... I would really recommend it to anyone who wants Afghan / oriental food in Munich.

Pass by view times, it’s always full. It must be good. So tried the first time, yes yes yes! Make sure to get a table better reserved first.

Love love love! By far the best food we have had in Munich. Every single thing on the menu is outstandingly consistent and tastes fantastic. Thanks to coronavirus we have yet only ordered for home delivery and can’t wait to experience the restaurant experience. Reduced a star as they once forgot to include an item ordered, however once informed were quick to deliver it. Will come and back and edit this review and make it 5 stars if the service at the restaurant matches the food. For anybody reading this review - try this place! You will not regret it.

I had the number 65 Qabali Pulao wa Badenjan Borani. I really enjoyed the dish. It was a good mix of creaminess of the brinjal, sourness and sweetness of the tomato and flavorful rice. Really enjoyed the meal. Definitely would like to go again.

I remember going to this place ages ago, It might have changed since when I was there but MY GOD WAS IT GOOD! My family were thinking of going back to Munich Just to eat there again.

Well... Everything was very good. Service is very welcoming and comfortable. Food is enjoyable and very tasty. I would say it is my favorable choice for Central Asia cuisine spot

Unfortunately nobody answered the phone when we called, it was an evening during the work week too, not a weekend, I don’t think they could’ve been that busy not to answer the phone. We went anyway. It wasn’t crowded. Then, after we arrived, the service was sooo slow, not acceptable, sorry. The meals were good, but we waited 2 hours in total.

The food was great but the service was slow, they didn’t ask if we wanted coffee or a dessert (which we wanted) and took A WHOLE HOUR TO RECEIVE THE BILL!

Very cosy, but more importantly excellent food. Me (meat eater) and my wife (vegetarian) both go there any time we want an excellent meal. This place is almost always packed, so a reservation is highly recommended unless you are ok waiting.

Friendly. small restaurant in fact so successful that they have opened a second location right next door. So first tip is call them to book a spot. The food is really great, slightly spicy and the taste different in a very good way. The afghani kitchen uses herbs available here but not used regularly. I had the spinach with rice. Really fantastic taste experience and I was glad I hadn't ordered appetizers. Next time in Munich I will definitely eat there again.

This little place is awesome! Reservation by phone is quick and highly recommended. We were received very friendly and our jackets were brought to the cloakroom in the back of the restaurant (attentive service). The very friendly and courteous staff looked after us very well and gave us great advice. This makes a visit to a restaurant enjoyable and a successful culinary excursion into the extremely tasty and fresh Afghan cuisine.

Delicious food, but horrible service! We went there to celebrate my sister's birthday, they kept us waiting more than 15 minutes because the table was occupied by other group, they didn't offer complimentary drinks or any sort of compensation, they just kept us waiting without even giving an explanation or saying they were sorry. Definitely not worth going back or making a reservation, since they don't care about those.

Cannot recommend the staff extremely enough - always approachable and helpful. Like coming here, the staff generally make you feel essential and I love the menu variety. Delicious food that caters to everyone's choices. A satisfying place for a meal out, always have great food here and it doesn't cost excess amount. Nice venue, was shown to our table promptly.

The food was acceptable, but the service was not. We waited 15 minutes for a bottle of water and then were graceless kicked out on the argument that they needed our table for a booking. First and last time in Chopan.

The food is absolutely fantastic, the waiter was extremely polite and sympathetic, can recommend 100%! It’s required to make a reservation to avoid long waiting at the door.

Finally got a table at Chopan! I tried to eat there ocassionally throughout the last two years, but whenerver i came it was fully booked. Make sure to book a table at least a couple of days ahead! The food was just awesome. Very juicy skewer of grilled lamb chank. In addition rice with almonds, pistachios & orange peel. Refined with roasted eggplants in tomato & onion sauce. It's just a perfect mix of exotic spices! Never thought that plain rice can taste this good! On top comes the oriental décor that makes you feel really welcomed and cosy.
